The article cites an estimate as the equivalent of two years of human-caused emissions by 2100 – so I guess that means we have to cut our emissions sooner rather than later if we want to stay ‘safe’. And/or let the people in the next century try to cope with a world that’s way too hot.
In times gone by, many societies seemed to take a longer view of things. I remember coming across cathedrals that took centuries to complete. These days too many of us think in terms of minutes instead of years, and decades instead of centuries. You’d think with all the knowledge available today we would have learnt wisdom and patience. Sad, isn’t it.
