WITH REGARD TO THE ABOVE LISTED ARTICLE: The 1970s Ice Age Myth and Time Magazine Covers – by David Kirtley.

It is nice that this deals the erroneously photoshopped cover of TIME Magazine. It was not necessary for them to do such a thing — however well it plays for the less engaged. Indeed, the cover should not have been necessary as the TRUTH is damning enough. That said, the SPIRIT of the message is undeniably true. The 1970s hysteria about the comingIce Age is NOT A MYTH. This is an historic fact that the Global Warming crowd might like to toss down the Ministry of Truth’s Memory Hole (reference to George Orwell’s 1984 for the less enlightened). If you are at all interested in proper Science, and not Political Science, you would do well to read on and respond in a rational manner congruent with the scientific method. So before you pile the timber and pitch to burn me at the stake for heresy, please read on and then TEST what I have to say for yourselves.

In the early/mid 1970s the same kind of “chicken little” types such as yourselves were very busy telling us that the “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” raising the alarm about a new Ice Age. They clamored for the very same kinds of “drastic measures” to “save the planet” then as you all do today.

SNIP: Please refer to the rules of my blog about Gish Galloping. Also, refer to the rule about providing real evidence to support any claims you make. That means peer-reviewed literature. I am more than happy to discuss the peer reviewed literature that you present that supports your position that scientists believed in a coming ice age in the seventies. Be prepared however to find that the number of peer reviewed papers supporting that position was few compared to the number of papers that offered either warming or no position. Time magazine is not a peer reviewed journal. The point of this post, clearly lost on you, was the lengths that deniers such as yourself are prepared to go to in the absence of real evidence to support your position.

As for the rest of your much debunked and out of date denier memes, bring real evidence, post in relevant threads, and follow the blog rules, or go somewhere else.
