This could actually qualify as a Denier Comment of the Day but since it has come from Campbell “I’m in the business of coal mining” Newman….
Before I insert the idiotic quote. Here is a reminder of Newman’s plans for Queensland.
So, in response to the change of government, Campbell Newman is now looking forward to fast tracking environmental approvals so that he can go about destroying the environment quicker.
“In layman’s terms it means delegating federal environmental approvals to the states so that we can see these important tourism, construction, agriculture and resource projects expedited in this state. We will protect the environment, I promise Queenslanders that. But we need to see the Federal Government’s green tape removed so we can get on and move this state forward.” source
What the hell does he think the “green tape” is there for if not to protect the environment? These LNP idiots are shameless in their raping of our resources for short-term financial and political gain and I am ashamed that my fellow Australians are prepared to assist them in this regard. I can only wonder at what point the people of this country will finally see what they have done? Will it be when the reef is 1/2 gone, 3/4 gone…..completely gone? Will it be when fracking has completely taken over our agricultural areas and ruined our aquifers and we start importing food traditionally grown here? Perhaps it will be when we get another 1 in 100 year flood within the next few years? Maybe when El Nino returns and more temperature records are smashed? At some point, people will realise. I predict it will be when people really start feeling the inevitable financial pinch that they will see the error of their ways. We humans are inherently selfish. By then, it will too late for much of our beautiful natural attractions and future generations will look back at this time and wonder why we didn’t see the danger signs. Just as I wish I could have seen a dodo, a thylacine, a moa, those people will look back and wish they could see the Great Barrier Reef.
